Fall Fun!

The Williamson County recreation center advertised a new event, "Spooks and Coupes" for several weeks.  We decided to check it out- anything for candy, right?!  It was pretty neat.  There were Disney characters and their evil counter parts (Cruella, Ursella, Malificient, etc- the "spooks"), then you came to a row of antique cars to trunk or treat (the "coupes").

The girls are going to be something else for Halloween, but these costumes worked for the night!

Paige refused to pose with Elsa and Anna unless I was with her:

It was fun and the girls were thrilled with their loot.
Last weekend, we walked to downtown Franklin's Pumpkinfest.  Olivia had a meet the next day, so she wanted to ride in the wagon to "rest." Ha!

They painted pumpkins:

Ate cotton candy:

Watched a show on stage:

And danced like nobody was watching!  It was pretty entertaining and the walk from our house wasn't long, so we plan on making it more often.

Olivia had a meet at the Opryland hotel on Sunday.

She did great!  Her scores were much higher than the last competition.  However, this was a smaller meet, so she was competing against girls quite a bit older.  She still did well, placing 7th out of 14.
Of course, I have the video:

She was thrilled with her medals:

Her team placed 2nd overall!

Fall Break and a shiner

We have enjoyed Olivia's Fall break this week.  Olivia and I especially enjoyed Thursday, when Paige was at "school."  We went to the Adventure Science Center and had some Mommy/Olivia time!  Tried to get a picture with our Fall decorations:

The Science Center is really neat.  We went a few months ago on a Saturday, when it was super crowded.  We went right when it opened Thursday and had a good hour before it became crowded.  Playing the piano:

Feeding the mouth in the Body Center:

There was a section about local rivers and preservation.  There was a catfish you could try to "noodle" out of his hole:

Ha!
Right before we left, we climbed to the top of the observatory:

It reminded me how important it is for us to have one on one time.

Paige is still a mess (literally).  Enjoying a Kit-Kat:

She insists on carrying a bag every time we leave a store:

And we learned that she is terrified of caterpillars:

Olivia had an unfortunate incident with a neighbor who was swinging a metal camping lantern around on a rope.  It connected with the corner of her eye:

We iced it, but it kept swelling and is now a lovely shade of purple:

She insisted on going to gymnastics this morning.  She's very self conscious of how her eye looks, but Coach Kyra told her she was still beautiful, so she felt better. :)

I have to add these 2 videos of Paige.  She loves to sing along with Olivia and I, especially to the Everything is Awesome song from The Lego Movie, and Let it Go from Frozen:

She also loves having someone smaller than her to boss around (even if it's a kitten):

Chattanooga Classic

We just got back from another gymnastic meet.  Olivia is cool as a cucumber at these meets and has a blast.  I'm a nervous wreck and feel like I'm going to throw up the entire time!  She did so good.  Luckily, the girls are separated by age at competitions.  There were 11 girls in her age group.  She got 1st place on vault, 2nd on beam, 2nd on bars, 2nd on floor, and 2nd all around!  Talk about proud:

Standing at the top of the podium with her vault medal:

A few more from the meet:

You also got a trophy if you placed in the top 3 all around.  She was also very excited, because this meet was hosted by her old gym in Chattanooga.  So, she got to see Sadie!

Her team also got 2nd place (this is just part of the team)!

Paige was her usual outgoing, loud self.  Meets are pretty loud, so I don't think she bothered anyone (much):

Of course I have the video:

Her scores were better overall and would have been higher, except for her landing on bars and jumping off the beam.  The beam is a timed event and they've been working on staying on time.  However, she heard the timer go off right as she was getting ready to dismount (indicating that she went over) and immediately jumped off.  Which means she got a deduction for going over AND for "falling" off the beam.  And still managed to score an 8.225!  We were so stinking proud of her.

Trying hard to not turn this into a gymnastic blog, ha!  I had minor surgery last week and we've had 3 sets of grandparents come help out (thanks again!).  They got to experience the crazy toddler known as Paige:

She can be so much fun, but she is literally into everything and a huge handful.  Grocery shopping is a nightmare.  One minute she's stuffing samples in her mouth (she refuses to sit in the appropriate part of the cart):

The next she has a Spiderman balloon in a headlock:

Even the cat is relieved when it's naptime:

Thank goodness this kitten turned out to be pretty laid back:
