Another Meet

We traveled to Galatin this weekend for Olivia's first "real" meet of the season.  She was so excited!  We also found out that a parent on the team is a photographer for Vanderbilt sports and loves taking pictures.  Awesome!  That means I can leave my camera at home, ha!

Her scores for this meet were:

Vault:  8.850 (4th)
Bars:  9.3 (1st)
Beam:  9.125 (1st)
Floor:  9.2 (1st)
All Around:  36.475 (1st)

This was the first time she came in first in her age division.  She was very humble, though, and congratulated her teammates while beaming a smile in our direction.  So proud of her!

Business Ventures

A few weeks ago, I noticed a post on a local Buy, Sale, Trade page about a business for sale.  Embroidery, screen printing, sublimation, and vinyl.  Basically a customization shop.  We have always talked about opening our own business, so we contacted the owners and went to meet them.  The business had basically grown too fast and one woman had gotten divorced.  They decided to sell what they had and move on.
All that to say, it didn't work out with us buying that business (they were asking way too much for what it was), but we did decide to start something on our own.  We found a used embroidery machine, a vinyl cutter, and a sublimation printer.  We've had lots of fun experimenting and making different things for the girls.

So, let us know if you need something embroidered, sublimated, screen printed, etc!

First Competition

Olivia had her first practice competition this weekend and did great!  She has improved soooo much and still loves her sport.

And some videos.  Bars:

Beam:

Floor:

I didn't get a video of vault.  This is a practice meet, so she just got a range of scores and they were all 9.0 - 9.5.  Anything above a 9 is great at this level.  Yay!

Paige also started a ballet class.  How cute is this:

Life is getting busy!

Birthday girl and first day of school

Olivia woke up on her birthday to presents and balloons:

Paige had a hard time watching Olivia open presents, ha!  We met one of Livi's friends from school at Pump It Up and let the girls burn off some energy.  Then Olivia took her birthday money and we went to the pet store.  She specifically asked for money to purchase a hermit crab, but when we got there, she fell in love with a teddy bear hamster.  Meet Teddy:

He seems to be a really sweet hamster and hasn't bitten anyone yet, ha!  We have to really watch Peach, though, who is a quite accomplished hunter and is very interested in watching Teddy.
How in the world is this sweet girl already 7?!

The next day was the first day of second grade for Olivia and the first day of 2 day a week "school" for Paige:

I'm hoping Paige doesn't get kicked out!  Joking... kind of.

Swim Lessons

We quickly noticed that Paige was TERRIFIED of water every time we were around it.  She is also a daredevil that likes to run from us, so swim lessons were high on my priority list.

A mom at gymnastics teaches ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) for infants - age 5.  They are intense lessons, 5 days a week for 10 minutes at a time.  It's a well-researched program and is designed to teach survival skills to kids if they fall in a body of water.  She's not learning strokes (ha!).  She HATED the lessons at first:

And she never really got to the point of liking them, but it was amazing how she picked up the skills.  Olivia also took lessons at the same time (when she wasn't at a camp!) to learn different strokes.  Paige liked it when her sister was there.  The last "test" was swimming to the side of the pool in winter clothes.

I was really impressed with the program.  Next summer she will have a 1-2 week "refresher" course and will hopefully be good to go.  Yay for progress!

A Birthday Party!

We celebrated Olivia's birthday a little early, since school starts the day after her birthday!  She decided on a gymnastics party (shocking, I know) at Let It Shine.  Their competition season is quickly approaching and her entire team has been working really hard, but she can't get enough.

She wanted some photo props and the girls had so much fun with them:

They really have birthday parties down to a science:

She has been wanting to do this since she started at Let It Shine a year ago:

So thankful for the sweet friends she has made since we moved!  It was a great party.
